KNEW 1.28.2012 show

January 28th.2012. Saturday night's performance's were great!!! Even with minor technical difficulties, the groups were professional and kept the show going. Shaun DuBois, from Dallas, started off the show accompanied by guitarist Michael McLaughlin, in which was a good blend of guitar solos and hard knocking beats matching Shaun's eclectic lyrics. The following set was One Of Us and Dj Metronome feat. F.T. Dub, another Dallas/ Fort Worth native's who are Beatmaker /MC's, the chemistry of all 3 worked very well together, soulful backpack boombap beats and raps will get ya head nodding, and to end the set with Dj Metronome on the scratches was a good execution of their performance. Which brings us to the next group, my friends and colleagues Dallas/Lewisville/ATL/FW, Human Resources with the new addition of Dj D.Teknics. For their first show together, the culmination of MC's to Dj was as if this wasn't their first show, the transition from song to song was seamlessly blended, even with minor mic complications, the quadrant performers still did a quality job of rocking the stage, with positive energy and a motley array of vocal tones to accentuate D.Teknics turntablism, it was a lucid harmonious medley. Leading to the next group of hyperactive, rowdy crowd pleasing "HIPHOPPERS!" from Fort Worth, Birds Eye Blues/DK feat. HeirMax,when performing the hyped song "Barely Making It", the trio had the audience nodding with their hands pointed to the ceiling while singing the hook, then into rapid spitfire, fast paced lyrics, had you wondering if they took breathes or not, and to end it with some nice acapella's to calm the set back down to do the song by HeirMax ''Could" feat. Spewcatclism, made it seem like a storm was brewing. But before the storm, we had another 817 group, Strange Trees feat. Beast, long time friends, the trio did their set quite well, golden era back to back verses over crunchy booming beats, had that feel of early 90's rawness. As the last group was getting ready, by the name of Mondegreen, we raffled off an art piece by Dallas's Joe Skilz, with the anticipation awaiting, front man Anetix is on the side of the stage, jumping and preparing to do his set for the first time live with drummer Brady Hamilton. As Turntablist Phlegm cues in the Humungus Fungus intro, you can feel it charging up, like the currents in jacobs ladder, then all of a sudden a wall of sound just hits ya, Brady pounding out beats like a rumble of Thors hammer with Turtablist Phlegm's cuts slicing thru air, bending waves in your ears, then you got Anetix's hi-performance anti-gravity jumps crisscrossing the stage, and this was just the first song. From song to song, the prong was steady stabbing you with hits, my favorite was when they did a beat i made for them, not because it was my beat, but because it sounded better than what i did. Mondegreen had a real solid set all the way thru, the highlight was when Brady went into a drum solo, not a common thing to do on a HipHop set, but these guy's really pulled it off well, because you never lose sight of what they're doing and that it is HipHop. So be on the lookout for all these local DFW groups, and there is no better fitting clothing company to sponsor such an event, then OTC= "On The Come Up"...So BIG UPS! to all that was involved, all my friends/fans that came, but if you missed it, then you missed it, see ya at the next SPEWMEDIA event!..Thanks for reading! wompwomp noodle time!!
